William F. Gropman, 52

William F. “Billy” Gropman, 52, of Onset, died June 4, in Tobey Hospital. He was the husband of Judith S. (Shea) Gropman and the son of the late Frank W. and Elizabeth F. (Burbank) Gropman.

 

He was born in Boston and grew up in Brookline. He moved to Onset in 1985.

 

Mr. Gropman owned and operated Wareham Taxi.

 

He loved his family and helping people. He was a Boston Bruins fan and enjoyed fishing and telling jokes. He was a longtime hockey, baseball, and basketball coach in the area.

 

Survivors include his widow, Judy; his daughter, Elizabeth Gropman; 3 sons, Francis, Michael, and James Gropman all of Wareham; 3 grandchildren, Hannah, Arrianna and Shea Gropman; 3 brothers, Kenny Gropman of Norwell, Mike Gropman of Newton, and Steven Gropman of Bridgewater; nephews and nieces.

 

His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 10, from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham.

 

Visiting hours are from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
