William Hodgkinson, 68

William “Billy” F. Hodgkinson (aka Popeye), 68, of Stonington, Connecticut, formerly of Onset, passed away April 16 of a long illness. He was born in Hyannis, the son of the late Robert F. Sr. and Barbara (Durgin) Hodgkinson. He attended Wareham schools. He entered into the Navy right out of high school. He made the Navy his life ambition. He was Master Chief. He worked for the Electric Boat in Groton, Connecticut for many years. As a young boy, his passion was building model ships, submarines and planes. He also loved trains. He chased air shows as much as he could. He loved his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter Alexandra Hodgkinson and two granddaughters, Emily Anglace and Georgiana Martin, all of Connecticut; two brothers, Russell Hodgkinson of Buzzards Bay and Robert F. Hodgkinson Jr. of Wareham; four sisters, Sharon Pimental of Wareham, Helen Lima of Onset, Kathleen Huard and Luann Jesus both of East Wareham. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial service will be held on May 6 at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Zion Church at 2239 Cranberry Highway, West Wareham. Gathering to follow downstairs in the church.
