Along Main Street and Onset Avenue, businesses built scarecrows not to scare anyone away, but for a chance to win the annual Wareham Village Association Scarecrow Competition.
Tide and True of Onset took home the first place prize of a Wareham Village Association sweatshirt and all of the scarecrows in the competition can still be seen on Main Street and Onset Avenue.
This year, the competition began on Oct. 23 and ended Oct. 31, when members of the Wareham Village Association, Onset Bay Beautification Committee and the Wareham Garden Club chose a winner.
