The women of '76
Event Date
“Well-behaved women seldom make history,” wrote Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Laurel Ulrich.
This quote will come to life during Rita Parisi’s Women of '76 performance at the Wareham Free Library from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1.
Parisi will perform a one-woman show about five lesser-known women who were instrumental in the American Revolution. The characters include a militia-leading Massachusetts housewife and a farmer’s wife from Georgia who defended herself against the British.
Rita Parisi is a touring actress and playwright who performs original solo shows about history, literature and the lives of women. Parisi wears costumes to match the decade of her performance, according to the show’s description on her website.
Attendees are invited to step back in time and discover these untold stories mere days before the 250th anniversary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence.
The program is free and does not require registration.
