Roby Foundation awards scholarships

The "Midge" Roby Memorial Research and Scholarship Foundation has awarded thirteen scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 each for students entering into the medical field.

Wareham High School students Kayla Vicino, Jessica Dennis, Allison Covel, Nicole Geist, and Mallory Decas were among the scholarship recipients.

The staff and the Board of Directors said they always look forward to meeting each candidate and are amazed as to the caliber and poise of the students. Among the chosen careers were nursing, pre-med, physicians assistant and biomedical engineering.

Scholarships were also awarded to: Old Rochester Regional High School students Lauren O'Brien and Michelle Franklin; Carver High School student Kelsey Kettell; Sacred Heart High School students Michael Gerhard; Meiling May and Haille MacInnis; and Upper Cape Technical High School students Samantha Coe and Brittany Buttrick.

The scholarships were first awarded in the 1998. Since that date, 126 scholarships have been awarded, for a total of $145,000 as of this year.
