Garden Club plant, bake sale

The Wareham Garden Club will host its annual plant and bake sale on Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Old Methodist Meeting House, 495 Main Street.

This year's theme is "Autumn Days." Herbs, perennials, wreaths, birdhouses, fabric pumpkins, chicken wire baskets, fairy gardens, scarecrows, wire-wrapped bottles and other wares will be offered for sale.

The baked goods table will be stocked with goodies made by Club members -- including homemade apple pies.

The Garden Club's fundraisers support its civic commitments and funds its annual scholarships for local students. For membership information, contact Judy Weatherby at 508-295-6887. To contact the Club, e-mail warehamgardenclub@gmail.com.

Test drive a Ford, raise funds

Wareham Ford and Wareham High School will host the Drive 4 UR School program this Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Town Hall parking lot on Marion Road.

For every person who test drives a new Ford vehicle at the event, Ford Motor Company and Wareham Ford will donate $20 to Wareham High School's DECA program -- up to $6,000.

No vehicles will be sold during the event.

"This is such a fun time for the kids and the drivers. It really brings the school and the community together," said parent Joyce Bacchiocchi. "Wareham Ford is so generous to run this great program for Wareham High School, and there is absolutely no sales pitch. No one is going to ask you to buy a car, we promise."

DECA, the Distributive Education Clubs of America, is an extracurricular club that helps students gain marketing knowledge and skills needed to build a strong business background.

The Wareham team will use the funds to defray the costs of academic competitions. It will also support other clubs and extracurricular activities throughout the school.

Psychic Faire

The Wareham Summer of Celebration 2014 Committee will host its Psychic Faire on Saturday, September 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wareham Elks Lodge on Cranberry Highway.

The event will offer tarot card readings, horoscopes, a chance to see your aura photograph and explore spirit drawings.

Vendors will be in attendance and food will be available. All proceeds will benefit the Summer of Celebration 2014.

The summer of 2014 marks the 275th anniversary of the incorporation of the town and the 200th anniversary of the British attack on Wareham by the HMS Nimrod warship. A myriad of events are planned.
