Town updates Onset streetlights with help from NSTAR
Oct 27, 2013
Is Onset Village looking a bit brighter at night lately?
More than 50 of the village's iconic, antique-style streetlights recently got an upgrade thanks to the Community and Economic Development Authority and NSTAR.
"There's an effort to get things looking nicer down there," noted Salvador Pina, director of the Community and Economic Development Authority, which contributed $50,000 to the cause.
Municipal Maintenance kicked in approximately $42,000 in money that the town received from NSTAR, after utility work that the company completed ripped up Onset Avenue earlier this year, Town Administrator Derek Sullivan confirmed.
Look closely! The new lights have two tiny bulbs, which give them a look of the real antique, flame-lit lamps.
