School Committee member Cliff Sylvia took a moment to make a special announcement as the committee's meeting wrapped up on Jan. 8.

“I have other business. I don’t know if it’s appropriate, but what the heck. I would like to formally announce that I will be a candidate for my fifth term on the School Committee,” member Cliff Sylvia said.

“I’ve talked to my wife,” Sylvia said. “I’ve talked to my doctor.”

Sylvia’s and Kenneth Fontes’ School Committee seats will both be on the ballot in the April town election.

“I just enjoy the work,” Sylvia said. “We don’t always agree, but at least we disagree agreeably most of the time.”

“Thank you, and that was absolutely appropriate,” said Chair Rhonda Veugen.
