Budding Van Goghs and Picassos were on display as bidding wars raged at the fifth annual Minot Forest Elementary Art Show and Auction on Wednesday.

The walls of the Minot Forest Elementary gym were covered in student artwork from talented kindergarteners to fourth-graders and a silent auction was held for for over 300 pieces of student artwork. Midway through the event, teachers started an auction of 26 items from local artists ranging from paintings, to jewelry, accessories and sculptures.

One of the most coveted items of the night was a desk decked-out in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which went to resident Wanda Robertson for $150 after a bit of a bidding- war between a several people.

"I wanted to win it for my nephew Cameron--he's big into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," she said.

When Robertson found out she had outbid Wareham Schools Superintendent Kimberly Shaver-Hood she laughed and said, "Oh, I didn't know."

The event raised about $1,500 for the Minot Forest Art Department with some donations still trickling in over the next few weeks, according to Wareham art teacher and director of the event Nancy Lennon.
