A woman drowned at Swifts Beach on Wednesday despite life-saving efforts from Wareham EMS and Wareham police.

CPR was administered on-site for Carol Whitney, 64, of Templeton, MA, who was then transported to Tobey Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to Wareham police.

Emergency personnel were notified around 11:30 a.m. that a woman had drowned, though it's unclear how the drowning occurred.
