The Buzzards Bay Coalition of Wareham was awarded $15,740 in grant funding to support student development outside of the classroom by the Department of Education and Secondary Education, according to state Sen. Marc R. Pacheco (D-Taunton).

The award is part of the Quality Enhancements in After-School and Out-of-School Time Grant program, which supports programs and services that improve the academic, physical, social and emotional wellness of public and non-public school-age youth during the school year and summer, according to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

“I am pleased to see the high-quality education that is provided Wareham students in the classroom will also extend beyond the classroom through this grant program,” Pacheco said. “This award will allow Wareham students to participate in activities that support continued learning and growth long after classes have ended for the day or for the school year.”
