Eldon L. Sherman, Jr., 82,
Eldon L. Sherman, Jr., 82, of Wareham, died Friday, December 5, 2014 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. He was the husband of the late Dorothy A. (Iovanna) Sherman.
Born in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Grace V. (Upham) & Eldon L. Sherman, Sr. Mr. Sherman was a previous resident of Carver before moving to Wareham 18 years ago. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, Mr. Sherman became a police officer on the Plymouth Police Department after his military service. He also worked as a commercial lobster fisherman and was the founder and owner of Cape Cod Builders in Plymouth.
Mr. Sherman was an artist and enjoyed painting in oils, and also enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the Cristoforo Columbo Club in Plymouth, American Legion Post # 0462 in Boston and the V.F.W.
He is survived by three daughters, Nancy Sherman and Gail Centeio both of Wareham and Susan Afonso of Rochester, NH; two sons, Chuck Rossetti of Plymouth and Daniel Sherman of Rutland; two brothers, Donald Sherman of Melbourne, FL and Gordon Sherman of Maui, HI and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, the late Warren Sherman; his step-son, the late Richard Rossetti and his grandson, the late Jayson Sherman.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Fri., Dec. 12, 2014 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham from 5 – 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Sat., Dec. 13, 2014 at Vine Hill Cemetery, Samoset St., Plymouth at 10 a.m.
