M. Lucille Bergeron, 84
M. Lucille Bergeron, 84, of Plymouth and formerly of Wareham, died Sunday Dec. 14, at the Emeritus Assisted Living at Plymouth Beach. She was the wife of the late Leo J. Bergeron. Mrs. Bergeron was born in Haverhill the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Evangeline (Lullimere) Gosselin.
She attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and St. James High School both in Haverhill. Lucille graduated with the class of 1948. Lucille grew up by the Little River in Haverhill where she developed a love of ice skating. She was a member of the Sodality of St. Joseph’s Church and developed a special devotion of Mary. She was also a member of the women’s bowling team at St. Joseph’s Church.
Upon graduation, Lucille became a secretary for Reagan Ford in Haverhill. She later met Leo Bergeron, a Merrimack College student. Lucille typed many of his reports and also sang in his band. Soon after they married and moved to Brockton to follow his career in education. Lucille continued to sing with the Oratorio Society and worked for a Chevrolet auto dealership. Lucille took pride in her culinary skills and excelled in crewel embroidery and needlepoint. Lucille and Leo enjoyed ballroom dancing and in later years line dancing. An avid reader and cross word puzzle aficionado, she completed her puzzles in ink.
She is survived by her daughter Karen and her husband Richard Zopatti of Wareham; she was the sister of Norman Gosselin and his wife Louise of Methuen and sister in-law of David and Lucille Bergeron of VA. She is also survived by many loving nieces’ nephews’ relatives and friends.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday Dec. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Wareham Village Funeral Home 5 Center Street Wareham. Her funeral will be from the funeral home on Thursday Dec. 18 at 8:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Saint Patrick’s Church 82 High Street Wareham.
