The executive director of the Gleason Family YMCA, Laura Prisco, has left Wareham and is taking on a new role as chief operations officer at YMCA Cape Cod in Hyannis.

Nancy Bonnel, the original director of the Gleason Family YMCA and current Vice President of Operations for YMCA Southcoast, is currently serving as interim executive director at the YMCA in Wareham.

With over 20 years of experience with the YMCA, Prisco developed a strong relationship with board members, community leaders and local business members over the eight years she was executive director of the Gleason Family YMCA, according to YMCA staff.

The Gleason Family YMCA undertook a capital campaign for expansion in 2008, which raised over $4 million and took four years to complete.

Under Prisco’s leadership membership expanded from 5,000 to more than 8,000 members.

Prisco developed strong relationships with many YMCA members and enjoyed working with and coaching the youth and teen members, according to staff.

In her new role at YMCA Cape Cod, Prisco brings experience in fundraising, strategic planning, financial management, and leadership.
