Boy Scouts celebrate Scout Sunday

Feb 9, 2015

Boy Scouts from Troop 39 and Webelos from Pack 39 attended the 8 a.m. Mass at St. Patrick's Church, the groups' chartered organization, on Sunday, Feb. 8 as part of this year's Scout Sunday event.

This year's event coincides with the 105th anniversary of the foundation of Boy Scouts of America in 1910. There were 11 scouts in attendance.

The boys helped to welcome parishioners by serving as greeters before Mass. The scouts also enjoyed a breakfast provided after Mass hosted by the Knight's of Columbus.

Registration is now open for youngsters interested in joining scouting. Any boy in the first grade or older is eligible to join Cub Scouts and any boy who has completed the 5th grade and is 11 years old may join the Boy Scouts.
