Time-keeping Lobster found in Onset
It appeared his time was up.
When Guy Paganelli checked his lobster pots in Onset Harbor Friday morning, he had hoped to find some lobsters waiting for him. What he found was one very punctual lobster wearing a wristwatch.
"We were all shocked," Paganelli said.
Paganelli said he and his friends Dick and Manny went out to check the pots with him. When he opened the pot, they found a weathered gold wristwatch wrapped around a lobster's body.
At first he thought his friends must have been pulling a prank on him, but no one claimed responsibility for the watch.
"We pulled it out of the water and said, 'What the heck?'" Dick said.
A part-time resident in Onset since 1997, Paganelli said he has been fishing lobsters since 1999, but he's never heard of anything like this.
"Once, I caught one with the bands already on it, but nothing like this," Paganelli said.
Paganelli said he didn't have any plans for restoring or keeping the watch. As for the lobster?
"He's gonna make a nice lobster salad for my wife," Paganelli said.
