Decas Elementary to hold first Student Learning Expedition

Nov 8, 2015

The John W. Decas Elementary School will hold its first Student Learning Expedition of the year Nov. 18.

The expedition is the first of three for the school yearh, and is an opportunity for children to share a talent or piece of work with an adult volunteer. Students may share anything they would like. Participation is voluntary.

Volunteers will attend each child’s oral presentation and write positive feedback. This feedback will be recorded on a postcard and mailed to the child.

The expedition is still looking for volunteers. Anyone interested in being an adult volunteer should contact the school at 508-291-3530, email Principal Donna Noonan at dnoonan@wareham.k12.ma.us, or send a note to the office with their availability and contact information.

The expedition runs in two sessions, with the morning session running from 9:00 a.m. – 10:50 a.m., and the afternoon session running from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Volunteers are welcome join both sessions, and should plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start of a session. They should be prepared to stay for approximately another 15 minutes, after a session ends, to complete postcards.
