A 61-year-old Wareham man was killed in a fatal crash in Middleboro early Thursday morning, according to the State Police.

Police said Walter Florindo, of Wareham, crashed his car in Middleboro between exits 2 and 3 on Route 495 North. Troopers responded to the crash around 6:33 a.m.

Tooper Matthew Croteau’s preliminary investigation indicated that Florindo’s car traveled off the roadway and crashed into the woods. Florindo was taken to Tobey Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, and police think it may have been the result of a medical issue. State Police were assisted on scene by Middleboro Fire and EMS.
