Car slips into water at Tempest Knob boat ramp

A late model Dodge Charger Hellcat was recovered after slipping into the water at the Tempest Knob boat ramp on Thursday afternoon.

Wareham Harbormaster, Fire Department, Police officials and Vaughn’s Towing Service responded to the scene shortly after noon.

Harbormaster Garry Buckminster said no one was injured and it appeared no oil or gas had leaked into the water. Buckminster said the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries was notified as a precaution.

It appears the car rolled into the water after a couple that arrived to go fishing failed to put the car into park, said a woman who arrived in the car, but declined to be identified.

“It’s a new car,” she said. “This is so upsetting.”
