Taylor Rental will close its doors on Dec. 31 after 42 years of business.

Located at 2516 Cranberry Highway, the business has rented tools and equipment such as excavators, compressors, chippers and more to contractors and homeowners since 1974. Gail Purdy, who owns the business along with her two sons, said the business is closing because she’s stepping down to retire. She said there are no plans to sell and expressed gratitude for the community’s support through the years.

“It’s always been more than a business. It’s more like a family,” said Purdy. “We’ve developed a lot of good relationships with our customers.”

Purdy said after the business closes at the end of the month, it will reopen briefly to sell the remaining inventory. And to all of the store’s loyal customers Purdy said their support was appreciated through four decades.

“I’d like to say ‘thank you,’” she said.
