Council on Aging celebrates New Year's Luau
Leis, Elvis Presley tunes, and ambrosia for dessert- it was a Hawaiian luau celebration for an early New Year's party, hosted by the Council on Aging.
With New Year's-themed decorations and centerpieces of palm trees with monkeys, the luau brought the tropics to Wareham on a chilly Friday morning.
Nutrition director Cheryl Johannessen said the event coincided with the lunch hosted regularly by the council.
"I went with the menu that was already there: beef lo mein with assorted Chinese vegetable mix, and fortune cookies, ambrosia and orange sherbet for dessert," Johannessen.
She said there'd be a lot of noise during noontime, and she was right.
"We're gonna pretend that noontime is midnight. We're gonna have the countdown to New Year's."
