Tropical Storm Jose brings high winds, power outages

High winds from Tropical Storm Jose on Wednesday night had police, firefighters and Eversource crews responding to several reports of downed trees and branches.

The storm was slowly moving out to sea 150 miles southeast of Nantucket on Sept. 20, bringing gusty, rainy conditions to the South Coast for most of the day.

Winds were reported to be blowing at 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph Wednesday evening. As of 8 p.m., Eversource reported that 109 Wareham customers were without power.

According to emergency broadcasts, trees were reported fallen on Church Avenue, Mather Drive, Barker Road, Cranberry Highway and Burgess Point Road.

Eversource crews were dispatched to repair power lines on Church Avenue and Burgess Point Road.
