The results are in from a Wareham School District survey seeking community input on the prospect of offering college level and adult education courses.

When it comes to college courses, most residents want to see business classes offered. Regarding adult education, arts and crafts garnered the most interest.

Wareham School Committee Chair Judy Caporiccio went over the results on Wednesday. The surveys were available for one month and designed to gauge interest. Caporiccio explained officials were exploring those options in the hopes of one day partnering with a university.

“We’ve been looking at having a satellite campus,” said Caporiccio, adding that 106 people responded.

For college courses, she said 47 percent wanted to see business offered. Other results are as follows: finance, 38 percent; English, 32 percent; mathematics, 30 percent; foreign language, 39 percent. Participants were allowed to choose more than one answer.

Regarding adult education courses, 63 percent chose arts and crafts. Culinary arts scored second highest and boating safety scored the lowest. Nearly 50 percent of respondents said they wanted to see all of the programs offered.

Looking ahead, Caporiccio said officials will consider sources of funding for the courses.

“We will report on the progress and where we go from here,” said Caporiccio.
