Golfers hit the green to support Boys & Girls Club

Around 80 golfers enjoyed the Sunday weather while supporting a good cause in the Ronnie Robinson Memorial Golf Tournament.

The tournament, now in its fourth year, benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Wareham. This year, it was done in memory of Ronnie Robinson, who passed away last year and was an avid golf player, said Joe Reis, who was golfing on Sunday and was a friend of Robinson’s. Robinson began the golf tournament to raise money for the club and was also a supporter of the YMCA and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Bob Kenworthy, one of the golfers, said he was happy to support the Boys & Girls Club because of the work they do for kids in the community.

“When kids get out of school, they have a really good place to go,” Kenworthy said.

The Boys & Girls Club’s after school program runs from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, visit www.bgcnewbedford.org.
