Wareham Selectman says cell phone use is all business

Nov 8, 2017

When it comes to cell phones, Selectman Patrick Tropeano isn't playing around – especially not at Town Meeting.

On Tuesday, Tropeano responded to a complaint that he was spotted looking at his phone during October’s Town Meeting. According to Tropeano, board members receive the majority of their correspondence electronically.

Tropeano assured residents he was reviewing relevant documents, not Snapchatting, updating his Instagram or tweeting.

“Someone said, ‘you were playing with your phone at Town Meeting.’ Well, that’s ridiculous,” he said. “We’re all paying careful attention. We’re trying to get things done.”

His point made, Tropeano let the meeting continue without posting to social media.

“I just had to get that out of the way,” he said.
