A 48-year-old East Wareham man is facing a charge of armed robbery after he allegedly held up a Cranberry Highway gas station at knifepoint and then fled into a wooded area.

Christopher Baker was found hiding in brush behind Cape Cod Gas Station, located at 3037 Cranberry Highway on Dec. 21 after robbing the store at approximately 6:30 p.m., police said.

Baker is said to have demanded money from the cashier while wearing a mask. Police said the employee handed over an undetermined amount of cash and was not injured.

While searching the area, Officer Calib Larue found a piece of clothing that the suspect was said to be wearing. Police K-9 Rolf was called in and within minutes found Baker hiding in brush nearby with the stolen cash. Police noted this was the second felony arrest Rolf assisted with in the past 10 days.

Baker was taken to the Wareham Police Department and held without bail before arraignment in Wareham District Court. In addition to armed robbery, Baker was charged with intimidation of a witness.
