New year, new office for Onset Bay Association

Dec 31, 2017

A bustling Onset Bay Association has moved offices in a bid to increase visibility for its efforts to promote all things Onset.

A dozen volunteers helped relocate furniture and other items at the office’s former location at 4 Union Ave. starting on Dec. 27 and ending Dec. 29.

Even though temperatures hovered in the single digits, Onset Bay Association President Kat Jones said volunteers were out in force.

“It’s been quite the adventure,” she said.

The new space is located at 196 Onset Ave. Jones said the move was twofold: to increase the association’s visibility for pedestrians and to make the office handicap accessible.

The old office was located in a basement space, rented by EPM Realty. While the office served the association well, Jones said it wasn’t highly visible.

“I can’t tell you how many times people would stop in and say, ‘I had no idea you were here,’” she said.

Also, the new, larger space should make it easier for the association to raise funds by selling Onset-themed merchandise. Sales help support the group’s efforts in providing programs throughout the year, such as the long-running Summer of Love Concert Series.

Volunteers will spend the next few weeks setting up the space. Jones said before that's finished, the office will be open by Jan. 3 during its regular hours, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The office is open by appointment as well. Call Jones at 508-725-2657 to schedule a time.
