Wareham girls track teams honored for academic excellence

The Wareham High School girls indoor and outdoor track teams were recognized for academic excellence on Wednesday after both squads collectively earned a 3.5 GPA.
Players given the Team Academic Excellence Award from the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association for the fourth consecutive year. The indoor team features 20 athletes and the outdoor team 28 athletes. Three players were on hand at Wednesday’s School Committee to be honored.
Head Coach Christopher Gardner said more students would have attended to accept the award, but a basketball game had some of the girls occupied and others had graduated.
