Onset pizzeria weathers storm

While many businesses closed Thursday for the storm, it takes more than wind and snow to turn off the ovens at Marc Anthony’s Pizzeria in Onset.

“We’re like the post office,” said manager Alex Salerno. “We’re open rain, sleet, snow or shine.”

The pizza shop opened at 10 a.m. and would close at midnight as usual, ready to serve anyone willing to venture out, said Salerno.

“It’s nice and warm in here,” he said, inviting hungry customers down. “We’re here all day.”

The forecast called for between 5 to 7 inches of snow with high winds throughout the day.

Salerno said the shop stays open in most weather, only closing when the roads are truly impassable.

“What are we going to do? Sit at home and watch the snow come down?” he said. “We’ve got work to do.”
