Crossing guard struck in front of Wareham Town Hall

A school crossing guard was struck Tuesday morning near the intersection of Marion Road and Viking Drive then taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
At approximately 7 a.m. the school crossing guard, a 59-year-old woman, was hit by a car driven by a 76-year-old Wareham man. The man remained at the scene and reported the incident to responding officers.
The woman reported non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Wareham Police closed the road briefly following the crash. Investigation of this incident is ongoing.
