2 charged with murder after Wareham woman stabbed in New Bedford

New Bedford Police arrested two men on Monday for the murder of a 34-year-old Wareham woman, Chantel Bruno, who was stabbed on Jan. 22 in the city.

A third person was arrested in connection with the murder, a 29-year-old New Bedford woman, who is charged with obstruction of justice, relating to the witness intimidation statute, according to Bristol County District Attorney’s office officials.

Bruno was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford after police received a call that she was bleeding and screaming at 387 Ashley Blvd. at around 1:19 a.m. She was pronounced dead at around 2:30 a.m. Her dog, a 9-year-old Shih Tzu named Lolita, was stabbed once in the side and is being treated. The two men were also charged with animal cruelty.

Robert Viveiros, 47, of 387 Ashley Blvd., apartment 3N is charged with murder, home invasion, animal cruelty, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

Kenneth Roark, 45, of 66 Birchwood Drive, is charged with murder, armed home invasion, animal cruelty and conspiracy.

Olivia Alves, 29, of 387 Ashley Blvd., apartment 3N, is charged with obstruction of justice.
