A West Wareham man was sentenced to community service and placed on administrative supervision on April 11 in Barnstable District Court for dragging a woman with his car after an argument.

According to police records, Davon Veiga-Donovan, 23, was arguing with a woman on South Main Street in Centerville on Nov. 10, 2017. A witness said the woman was found lying down near her house as Donovan’s car sped up Church Street in the wrong lane. Donovan told police he was arguing with the victim inside his car and she would not leave.

After she stepped out of the car, he said she stood by the door and punched him through the open window, according to records. He started to drive away when the woman grabbed the door. Records state he heard her fall and saw her yelling on the ground.

Donovan was sentenced to 28 hours of community service and one year of administrative supervision, a form of probation.
