Police pursuit ends in Wareham man's arrest

May 3, 2018

A police pursuit on May 3 that involved the use of a Taser ended with a Wareham's man arrest and a slew of charges.

Ron Goodrich, of 8 Swifts Beach Road #3, was arrested for failing to stop for police after committing a traffic violation at the corner of High St. by the Multi-Service Center at approximately 1:35 a.m., police said.

Police said Sgt. Daniel Henderson turned on his blue lights after witnessing the violation, but Goodrich failed to stop and sped up, committing multiple violations during the chase.

Henderson followed the car to Swifts Beach Road where it turned into a mobile home park. The car pulled alongside a trailer and a man exited, acting erratically, according to police. Henderson ordered him to the ground, but the suspect refused to comply. Because Henderson could not see the man's hands, a taser was used. Police said the Taser had no effect and the suspect made it inside the trailer with the help of two men who were inside.

The men pulled Goodrich into the trailer then locked the door. Henderson attempted to get inside and the men then opened the door. However, the suspect fled out of a back door. Other officers arrived at the scene and Goodrich was found with the assistance of K-9 Rolf nearby.

Goodrich has been charged with the following: failure to stop for police, speeding, failure to stay within marked lanes, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle after license suspension and operating an uninsured motor vehicle on a public way.

Police said charges are forthcoming for the two men who allegedly aided Goodrich.
