Wareham man faces drug charges after near collision

A near car crash ended with the arrest of an East Wareham man on drug charges on May 10, Wareham Police said.

Police said James MacDonald, 41, nearly hit another car on Narrows Road at approximately 4:45 p.m. The driver of the other car swerved off the road to avoid being struck.

Officer Michael Phinney witnessed the incident and stopped MacDonald. According to police, Phinney saw a brown, powdery substance he believed to be heroin in the center console of the car. As a result, MacDonald was arrested.

The car was towed from the scene and MacDonald was taken to the Wareham Police Department for processing. MacDonald was charged with: possession of a class A drug and failing to stay in marked lanes.
