Public invited to emergency preparedness listening session on May 29

May 24, 2018

Residents are being invited to identify what areas of concern town officials should focus on when it comes to severe weather.

On May 29, a listening session on preparing for storms, floods and other events will take place at 7 p.m. during the Selectmen’s meeting.

Held on the second floor of the Multi-Service Center, 48 Marion Road, the session seeks to find what’s important to residents when it comes to preparation.

In early May, a variety of town officials attended a workshop to identify their concerns. At the top of the list – establishing an emergency command center. In addition to establishing a command center, officials identified some other areas to take action. They include: develop a beach management plan, adopt zoning regulations to limit new construction in flood zones and create plan to buy land to protect salt marshes.
