Looking for a few jailbirds

community leaders head to the slammer
Jan 27, 2010

Want to see your community leaders in jail? The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) can make it happen. The MDA is seeking community and business leaders fromWareham, Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester, and Buzzards Bay to go visit prison (or the Gateway Tavern, which is donating "jail grub") on Wednesday, March 24th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteer jailbirds will collect donations to post bail. Each person's he funds will enable two children to spend a week at summer camp in NH. The fundraiser is a popular spectacle - volunteers will be arrested by volunteer State Police or volunteer members of the fire department and transported with sirens blaring. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact MDA Fundraising Coordinator Melody Britto at (508) 821-1533 or mbritto@mdausa.org. And don't worry about being left to rot in jail, Britto says prisoners may be released for good behavior.
