Wareham Historical Society to host talk on New Bedford Whaling Museum

On June 18, the Wareham Historical Society will host Clifton Rice, who will present a brief history of the founding and development of the Old Dartmouth Historical Society and the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

The talk is set for 7 p.m. in the Old Methodist Meetinghouse, located at 495 Main St.

He will talk about the museum’s expansion in the 21st century and its role as a historical, educational and cultural center for the region. He will also present the museum’s collections regarding the Yankee Whaling Era and New Bedford’s multi-cultural population in an audio-visual program.

Admission is free for Wareham Historical Society members, non-members pay $2. Refreshments will be served after the program. For more information, call 508-295-8578.
