Upcoming Council on Aging events
The Council on Aging is offering a variety of events for seniors in August.
Strawberry Fest, sponsored by the Friends of Wareham's Elderly, will be held on August 16 in the community room of the Multi-service Center, located at 54 Marion Road. The event is free, but you must reserve a spot with Cheryl by calling 508-291-3100 x6514 at least three days before.
On August 18 there will be free vascular screenings for peripheral artery disease (PAD) by Southcoast Hospitals. Each session will last 20 minutes. You must pre-register by calling 508-291-3130. The screenings will be held in room 119 of the Multi-service Center.
Elvis will be in the building on August 31. Vic Solo, an impersonator, will entertain guests with about an hour of the King's most popular songs. The event is free. No reservations are needed, but for the best seating, why not come for lunch before? Pre-register for lunch at least two days previous with Cheryl by calling 508-291-3100 x6514. There is a suggested lunch donation of $2.50. Lunch is build-a-burger, with lettuce, tomato, chips, juice, carrot salad, and butterscotch pudding. The Friends of Wareham's Elderly will be holding a 50/50 raffle and a door prize. The event begins at 1 p.m. and will be held in the Multi-service Center.
Monday movie nights for the month of August include Breakfast at Tiffany's, Singin' in the Rain, Fiddler on the Roof, and Carousel. Because Fiddler is so long, it will be shown in two parts. Movie nights are free and are held in room 119 of the Multi-service Center, located at 54 Marion Road.
