Vikings ice hockey endures tough loss
The Wareham Vikings boys ice hockey team had another tough outing Wednesday, Feb. 3, against the Somerset Blue Raiders. Wareham played hard and gave it all they had, but they eventually lost the game 4-2 in large part due to a hat trick by Somerset senior Tyler Lyne. Wareham tied the game at 2 in the second period, but Somerset scored two more goals by the end of the period and never abandoned the lead.
Scoring for Wareham were Tony Richard (assisted by Curtis Garcia and Justin Sumner) and Justin Sumner (assisted by Tony Richard). Wareham goalie John Colp had another busy day stopping 42 of 46 shots. The loss has Wareham at 6-9 on the season (5-6 in the SCC) and leaves them needing wins in each of their final three games in order to move on to the postseason.
