Woman injured in Main Street car crash

A woman was injured as the results of a car accident at the intersection of Chapel Street and Main Street Tuesday around 10 a.m.

A vehicle coming down the Chapel Street hill, which has the right-of-way, collided with a red Toyota which ran the Main Street stop sign, according to a police officer at the scene. The red vehicle went into Christie's Hair Salon, 367 Main Street, causing structural damage to the building.

The woman driving the red Toyota suffered injuries and was transported to Tobey Hospital. No one else was injured. The accident deterred traffic on Main Street.

Building Inspector Paul Wakem said he was unable to comment until he formalized his report.

Police did not release any further information.
