Covid-19 relief grants available for very small businesses
The town of Wareham is teaming up with Abington, Avon, Holbrook, Hull, and Rockland to offer covid-19 relief grants of up to $10,000 to small businesses that have been impacted by the pandemic.
The grant program is open only to microenterprises, which are defined as businesses with five or fewer employees, at least one of whom is the business owner.
The grants can be used for costs including rent, staffing, utilities, insurance, goods, or for the purchase of personal protective equipment.
Applications that meet the basic grant criteria will be put into a lottery to establish waiting lists by town for assistance.
Additionally, the owners of the business must make no more than 80 percent of the median income for the town they live in, and must show that the business was impacted by the pandemic.
Real estate companies, chains, liquor stores, weapons or firearms dealers, lobbyists, cannabis-related businesses, and businesses owned by minors are not eligible for the program.
Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 9.
