Mary P. (Pina) Baptiste, 89, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at her home in Wareham. She was the wife of the late August A. Baptiste, Sr.
Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Louis & Eugenia (Pinto) Pina, she was a lifelong resident of West Wareham.
Mrs. Baptiste worked for Ocean Spray for over 25 years in the quality control department. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Onset and the St. Margaret’s Ladies Guild in Buzzards Bay. Mrs. Baptiste enjoyed cooking, crocheting and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Judith Baptiste-Fontes and her husband Frank of Carver, Leonard Baptiste and his wife Renate of Westford, Elaine Baptiste Bartie of W. Wareham, Kathleen Baptiste-Atchue of Wareham and the late August A. Baptiste, Jr.; her sisters, Ida St. Germaine of W. Wareham and Laura Croutear of Woonsocket, RI; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, the late Josephine Fernandes and Virginia Texiera and her brother, the late Charles Pina.
Visitation and Mass was held January 7. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.
