Wareham Gatemen get into the swing of the season
The 2021 season is the first the Gatemen have played since the onset of the covid-19 pandemic. So far, the team has a 2-4-1 record, and the roster is set to change significantly after the College World Series wraps up. On June 25, the team took on the Orleans Firebirds and won, with a final score of 4-2.
On Saturday, June 26, the Gatemen fell to Bourne with a final score of 6-5.
The team fell 3-0 to the Brewster Whitecaps on Sunday.
On Monday night, the team tied 3-3 with the Falmouth Commodores.
Gateman recognized
Owen Diodati, an outfielder for the Wareham Gatemen, was named the Cape Cod Baseball League’s first player of the week for the 2021 season.
Diodati, a student at the University of Alabama, had a .450 AVG over the first week of play, with three home runs and nine runs batted in.
During his sophomore season at Alabama, Diodati batted .230 (46-200) with three doubles, a triple and 11 home runs.

On Friday, July 2, the Gatemen will play the Hyannis Harbor Hawks at 6:45 p.m.
On Sunday, July 4, the Gatemen will play the Bourne Braves at 6:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, July 7, the Gatemen will face the Harwich Mariners at 6:45 p.m.
