Democrats to hold caucus
Wareham's registered Democrats will hold their annual caucus at the Wareham Multi-service Center on February 21 at 7 p.m.
Eleven delegates and three alternates will be elected for the 2012 Massachusetts Democratic Convention.
Delegates will be equally divided between men and women in accordance with Democratic Party rules. Anyone at least 18 years old and registered as a Massachusetts Democrat is welcome to attend and run for a delegate position.
Candidates for the delegate and alternate positions should be present at the caucus and consent to the nomination in writing, though candidates may have their names submitted in their absence if a sufficient number of people are not present.
Candidates may make a two-minute statement and may distribute materials. Anyone not elected may apply to be "add-on" delegates in the "youth" (age 35 and under), "minority," and "disabled" categories.
This year's convention will be held Saturday, June 2, and the MassMutual Center in Springfield. Delegates will gather to select candidates to compete for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate.
