Dog Park art contest sparks creativity
Dogs, ducks, and a doe-eyed giraffe were among the subjects of art submitted by kids to the Wareham Dog Park’s annual Unleash the PAWSabilities Art and Literature Contest.
The works were displayed in front of the Decas School on Friday for a family celebration, and will be up for viewing at the Wareham Center Post Office this month.
Contest winners were selected by a panel of judges, and every child who entered won a prize - ranging from a tour of Onset Bay to a year’s pass to Nemasket Kayak to gift certificates for Gone Country Ice Cream, Marc Anthony’s, or Jersey Mike’s. After the award ceremony, kids got to spend time with the friendly dogs brought to the event by the Wareham Pack Walkers.
The Visual Arts winners were Amiyah Gougeon, 7; Hazel Holmes, 10; and Emily Anne Schluter, 17. The Literary winners were Kenzie Berejik, 7, and Faith Johnson, 11.
