Historical Society presents scholarship to Bridgewater student
The Wareham Historical Society presented Brenden Behring with a scholarship on Friday, Jan. 26.
Brenden is currently a freshman at Bridgewater State University, studying history education.
He said he was inspired to pursue this field after having the opportunity to teach a class himself during his senior year of high school, adding how it gave him great starting experience.
He is unsure of which grade he’d like to teach just yet, but he’s looking forward to getting into more of the classes for his major in the coming years.
In regard to the scholarship, he said, “I’m very thankful for the opportunity presented to me and it’s going to a good cause.”
Historical Society President Angela Dunham said the organization has held this scholarship every year since 2015 for students studying education who do not have a full ride in their program.
Dunham said she had been an educator for over 30 years and her own grandson is currently in his third year at Bridgewater State.
“We’re very proud of him and he has some new God parents that he didn’t expect watching out for him,” she said, adding she hopes he’ll keep in touch and come visit.
Also on the scholarship committee were Historical Society members Bob Short and Ron Dunham.
