Bebos Sports Grill obtains liquor and entertainment license

Aug 16, 2023

The Select Board unanimously voted to transfer the liquor license of Onset Sports Resort to Bebos Sports Grill, LLC at 270 Onset Avenue as well as grant an entertainment license from the hours of 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Sundays.

Bebos Sports Grill Owner Brant Boyington, of Carver, said he has been searching for a location for his business for some time now, wanting one that would fit a casual dining experience.

Boyington said he has been a part of the food service industry for years in a variety of roles, including when he co-owned Lakeside Bar and Grill in the Berkshires.

He added he is pursuing this business solo because he wants to have a “smaller venue and a more focused venue on the community.”

The restaurant, which seats approximately 60 people, will have a sports theme, with a variety of menu items, including soup, salad, appetizers, burgers and chicken wings, Boyington said.

His entertainment will include pool tables, a jukebox, karaoke nights, television displays and some live performances.

He said, “My hope is that we're an integral part of the community that people will enjoy coming here and seeing each other face to face and having an evening out or a day out, or they can meet with each other.”

Boyington has already been out in the Wareham community meeting with different people.

Select Board members voiced concern about possible noise complaints as sound at that location travels fast. They were also concerned if Boyington was ready to face the learning curves that come with operating a business, especially in a new town.

Boyington said none of his live music performances will be held outside the building and he understands his responsibility and is ready to become a part of the Wareham community.

Select Board member Ronald Besse said, “I'm excited to see that place back up and running again. It was a staple in that community for a very long time, and we’d really like to see it active once again and we look forward to patronizing and seeing what you're bringing to the table.”
