Bonjour from Upper Cape, first prom at Rosebrook

May 15, 2016

Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School students held their largest prom yet at the Rosebrook Event Center Saturday evening.

According to Senior Class Advisor Ben Rabinovitch, this is the first prom event held at the center and a total of 173 students attended.

A Night in Paris, the city of love, was the theme chosen by the graduating senior class

The event center hosted the students, a dance floor, DJ, buffet, photo booth and an ice sculpture all in one room.

Students, all dolled up, arrived at the center around 6 p.m. Then, they all went outside and did a promenade walk back into the hall.

Teachers took attendance and chaperoned the event, but their involvement reached far beyond that. The Eiffel Tower ice sculpture was designed by chef Chip Koser, an instructor from the culinary department. Flower arrangements were created by the horticulture department. The carpentry program created the bridge (a photo stage) and a small Eiffel Tower with lights.

Students also took part in putting the event together. Senior class Vice Preisdent Ann Marie Lupino, and her date, Tyler Steinehour, were at the center the day before to help set up.

“It doesn’t feel like it’s senior year and about to end,” said Lupino.

The prom is only one of two dances that the school offers with the other being homecoming.
