Bridge Church’s ‘Bunny Trail’ avoids Easter egg scramble

Apr 8, 2023

Instead of hosting “a hectic and easy egg hunt,” Lisa Tavares, a pastor at the Bridge Church in Onset, wanted to bring the “true Easter story” to the Church's Bunny Trail event on Saturday, April 8.

The free event brought out about a dozen families for face painting, candy eating, cotton candy spinning and bouncy house jumping. A familiar floppy-eared friend greeted kids walking in, before they received some candy-filled eggs for their basket. Tables surrounding the event each held a sign explaining a piece of the biblical Easter story.

Local resident and dad Kevin DeCosta said the Bridge Church’s events “get everyone together doing the same stuff.” He also remarked on the importance of it being a free event for local families.

“It’s very accessible for the kids and it’s great for them to get out and about,” DeCosta said.

The Bridge Church hosted the hunt-less Easter event for the first time last year. Tavares said the church’s next public event will likely be a block party later this summer.
