Buzzards Play to hold "The Addams Family" auditions

They're creepy, they're kooky and they're coming to Wareham.

Buzzards Play Productions will be holding auditions for its fall presentation of the musical, "The Addams Family" on Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 7-9 p.m.

The tryouts will be held at the theatre at 3065 Cranberry Highway. "The Addams Family" will be directed by Traci Antil.

The performances are slated for two weekends: Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday Oct. 30 at 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m., and a special Halloween performance on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10 p.m. The following weekend, performances are on Thursday, Nov. 5, Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. The Nov. 8 Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m.

Audition requirements are as follows:

  • Prepare 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song, preferably not from "The Addams Family."
  • -Be prepared to do cold reading from the script, however, actors may e-mail tre0714@aol.com for info on perusal scripts prior to auditions.
  • -Actors are encouraged to e-mail tre0714@aol.com to set-up and confirm auditions but walk-ins will be accepted.

Roles: (The suggested ages are approximate and flexible)

  • Gomez Addams, age 40 to 50.
  • Morticia Addams, age 35 to 45.
  • Uncle Fester, age 50.
  • Grandma, age 60.
  • Wednesday Addams, late teens
  • Pugsley Addams, mid-teens (preferably husky)
  • Lurch, age over 30 ( preferably 6 feet tall or taller)
  • Mal Beineke, age 40 to 50. Alice Beineke, age 35 to 45. Lucas Beineke, early 20s.
  • The Addams Ancestors - five men and five women chorus of singers and dancers.
